Most inspection firms run on a form builder, a folder of photographs, a spreadsheet and a word processor. Each is fine on its own. Together they lose things — which photo belonged to which finding, who signed it off, whether the engineer even held the licence the scope required.
We had the same problem. So we stopped bolting a process onto generic software and wrote software that already knows what a scope is, what a checkpoint is, what severity means, and why nobody should approve their own report.
